About
Southwest Fertility Center was founded in 1980 by Dr. Sujatha Gunnala and is now believed to be among the only mother-son reproductive endocrinology practices in the United States, with Dr. Vinay Gunnala — fellowship-trained at Weill Cornell — joining her practice. A proud and explicit supporter of LGBTQ+ reproductive rights with a formal non-discrimination policy, the center serves patients across the full spectrum of family-building needs, from oocyte donation and gestational surrogacy to PGT and fertility preservation.

Cost factors to verify
A quoted price rarely tells the whole story. Ask the clinic how each of these is handled before comparing prices:
- Diagnosis and testing — workup before treatment starts
- Medications — injectables and pharmacy costs
- Monitoring — cycle bloodwork, ultrasounds, and visits
- Lab and anesthesia — embryology lab work, retrieval, and outside lab fees
- Embryo testing — genetic testing (PGT) when used
- Donor services — donor eggs, sperm, or gestational carrier coordination
- Insurance plan design — coverage, network rules, and benefit limits
- Financing — payment plans, multi-cycle packages, and refund programs
Questions to ask this clinic
- Which services happen at this location, and which require travel to another lab or partner site?
- Which fees are included in the quoted cycle price, and which are billed separately?
- How should patients verify insurance benefits before starting treatment?

Insurance
Site states they work with most insurances and offer individual financial counseling, but no named carrier list is published. Insurance acceptance is self-reported by the clinic and changes frequently. Fertility benefits also vary by individual employer plan, and self-funded plans may opt out of state mandates. Always verify coverage directly with the clinic and your insurer before starting treatment.
