Shady Grove Fertility at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Bethesda, MD) is a referral-based fertility program for eligible Department of Defense beneficiaries. Under this public-private arrangement, Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) maintains the on-site IVF laboratory, while all scheduling, appointments, treatment cycles, procedures, and medical management are directed by Walter Reed physicians at the Assisted Reproductive Care Center. Eligibility is limited to active-duty personnel and their dependents, reservists on current active-duty orders, and Tricare Prime enrollees, with additional clinical criteria (age 43 or younger, FSH under 12, BMI under 40, nicotine-free for at least three months; age 55 or below for donor egg cycles with added clearances). Services include IVF, intrauterine insemination, frozen embryo transfer, egg freezing, donor egg and donor sperm cycles, preimplantation genetic testing, male surgical procedures, and oncofertility care. Patients enrolled at Walter Reed receive care only at this site and are not eligible for SGF's standard military discount program at other locations.
