About
The Fertility Institute of Hawaii (FIH) takes a distinctly individualized approach to fertility care, tailoring treatment plans to each patient's unique medical history rather than applying a one-size-fits-all protocol. Based in Honolulu, FIH is one of Hawaii's most established fertility centers, offering the full spectrum of reproductive services including IVF, donor programs, oncofertility, and LGBTQ+ family building, with an active video education library for patients.

Cost factors to verify
A quoted price rarely tells the whole story. Ask the clinic how each of these is handled before comparing prices:
- Diagnosis and testing — workup before treatment starts
- Medications — injectables and pharmacy costs
- Monitoring — cycle bloodwork, ultrasounds, and visits
- Lab and anesthesia — embryology lab work, retrieval, and outside lab fees
- Embryo testing — genetic testing (PGT) when used
- Donor services — donor eggs, sperm, or gestational carrier coordination
- Insurance plan design — coverage, network rules, and benefit limits
- Financing — payment plans, multi-cycle packages, and refund programs
Questions to ask this clinic
- Which services happen at this location, and which require travel to another lab or partner site?
- Which fees are included in the quoted cycle price, and which are billed separately?
- How should patients verify insurance benefits before starting treatment?

Insurance
Accepted insurer candidates
Employer benefit program candidates
Hawaii mandates one IVF cycle if criteria met. Kaiser, Tricare Prime, and some HMSA HMOs require referral. Medicare, Medicaid, and Quest do not cover infertility. Dedicated insurance page at /fertility-insurance-information/. Insurance acceptance is self-reported by the clinic and changes frequently. Fertility benefits also vary by individual employer plan, and self-funded plans may opt out of state mandates. Always verify coverage directly with the clinic and your insurer before starting treatment.
